What I Have Learned About Nonfiction

I have learned that sometimes less is can be better in writing. That was something I struggled with. I found myself not focusing enough on what I had to say before this class. This lesson can take me far. Now, I pick up on my useless phrases a little quicker while drafting. I learned the power behind getting feedback. I was one for not sharing my drafts or work. I don't picture myself doing that anymore. I loved the feedback that I got in this class and I appreciated the harshest comments the most because they were honest and real. There were many moments that I was reading and giving feedback on my classmates' work and noticed that I do the same thing. Learning how to look at my writing critically and constructive way has done a lot for me as a person and writer. The last, and my favorite lesson would be that drafting is a never-ending process. Nothing will ever be perfect and bad drafts are normal. It is the time you put into getting to know your piece and what you want to do with it that will make the work go far.
